Five questions to ask before you advertise a vacancy!

1. Is the job description still accurate? Has the role evolved, or are you recruiting for a position that no longer reflects what the business really needs?
2. Would someone genuinely be excited to apply? Does your advert sell the opportunity, or does it simply list responsibilities?
3. Is the salary competitive in today’s market? The best candidates often won’t apply if the package doesn’t reflect current market expectations. And yes, you MUST ALWAYS advertise the salary to avoid much wasted time!
4. Are you advertising in the right places? Posting on one job board rarely reaches the strongest talent.
5. Do you have the time to manage the process properly? Responding quickly, screening effectively and keeping candidates engaged all make a huge difference to the outcome.
